Frome photographer launches quirky postcard range And star attraction is the Frome Times!

Story posted on

Frome-based photographer, Mark Brookes, has launched a range of new postcards depicting some of the more quirky and fun aspects of the town.

Mark, who was the principal photographer for the successful 2019 Frome calendar, decided that many of the images he had produced might work well as postcards. So, in cooperation with the Stony Street-based stationery and printing business, Postscript, he produced the first in an ongoing range of cards.

The initial dozen designs depict scenes including pop-up gatherings on Catherine Hill, the Independent market as well as local graffiti and even an image featuring the Frome Times itself!

With some of the cards in full colour and others in classic monochrome, the first selection offers a wide choice for residents and visitors to the town and captures some of the more off-the-wall views of Frome.

Various designs of the cards are now available in Hunting Raven Books, Postscript, the WHY Gallery and the town council’s visitor information point at Black Swan Arts. Specially presented packs of the monochrome designs are also available at Frome Gifts in Stony Street.

Mark, who returned to professional photography after a break of more than 20 years, plans to publish a second set in the next month or so alongside a more comprehensive range of fine art photographic cards.

Mark said, “Following my work on the Frome calendar, I was receiving increasing amounts of requests for images on cards, so the time was right to take the plunge and get some into production. The response has been amazing, with shops asking for more cards within a week of ordering. It’s great to have so much support from the town as I return to the photographic business.”
