Frome Town Ladies changes to Frome Town Women

Story posted on

FROME Town FC says that Frome Town Ladies has been renamed Frome Town Women, following the launch of the club’s new crest.

This would see the women’s team align themselves to many other high profile teams, making the switch over the last few seasons and to the FA naming of the women’s leagues.

Manager Justin Paget said, “This season has been a huge success, with remaining unbeaten and promotion. But success is not just on the field, and we’ve been working hard to be reintegrated into the wider club, with all our home games being played at Badgers Hill and all our matches featured prominently on the main club website. With the crest change, this gave us an important opportunity to continue to show that Frome Town Women is a forwardthinking and modern team and we continue to put Frome on the map in regards to women’s football.”

Frome Town Women captain, Steph Isaacson explained, “The crest and name change has come at a really good time for us, it gives us the identity of unity with Frome Town FC but also as Frome Town Women double winners. New League, new crest, new name, same spirit, more determination.

“The change might lead to people asking why.  However the growing feeling around the label “ladies” is that it’s old fashioned and even suggesting that the use of Ladies football has negative connotations and is often associated with outdated views. Eleven teams in the new Women’s Super League have now transitioned over from Ladies to Women and it’s a trend that is not likely to end.”

Frome Town FC and Frome Town Women FC will also share the same first team home jersey design as the club continues to pull in the same direction, to drive the success of women’s football in Frome.
