A Comedy whodunnit, ‘Crimes on the Coast’, will be presented by New Old Friends on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September at the Merlin Theatre.

A secluded island hotel just off the English coast becomes a crime scene, as a scandal-inducing femme-fatale is felled. All the guests on the island are suspects, but is all quite what it seems? Frome’s multi-award-winning theatre company New Old Friends present Crimes On the Coast, a comedy thriller directed by James Farrell (The 39 Steps, West End). The show enjoyed a sell-out national tour in 2018 (as Crimes Under the Sun) and tours again by popular demand. Four actors play multiple characters, in a romp of inventive theatricality.

Inspired by Agatha Christie, Noel Coward & PG Wodehouse, you are invited on an hilarious but murderous classic English Riviera retreat. Tickets: Adults £15, concessions £12.50 Recommended 12+.

For all fans of The Handmaid’s Tale

An evening with Margaret Atwood recorded in front of a live audience and screened at the Merlin on Wednesday 18th September at 7 pm.

The wait is nearly over….The Testaments, Margaret Atwood’s highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, is revealed. The momentous literary event is celebrated with an exclusive broadcast, as Fane Productions present an evening with the Canadian novelist, poet, literary critic and inventor.

The publication of Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale in 1985 and the current, Emmy Award-winning television series have created a cultural phenomenon, as handmaids have become a symbol of women’s rights and a protest against misogyny and oppression. Live from the London stage, Atwood will be interviewed by broadcaster and author Samira Ahmed in a conversation spanning the length of Atwood’s remarkable career, her diverse range of works, and why she has returned to her seminal handmaid story, 34 years later.

‘Dear Readers: Everything you’ve ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book. Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we’ve been living in.’

With exclusive readings from the new book by special guests, this will be an unmissable and intimate event with Atwood, spotlighting her signature insight, humour and intellect.

Tickets: Adults £16, concessions £10.50. Cert 12A.
