The all NEW Old Bath Arms

Story posted on

THE Old Bath Arms in Frome say they are doing things that ‘nobody has ever done before’ as they introduce a brand new refurbished al-fresco dining area and bar.

The Old Bath Arms now welcomes a new all-weather, heated terrace area and craft bar, to entice the residents of Frome and beyond.

Frome Times spoke to landlord, Richard Findlay about the refurbishments, who said, “It’s magic! We are tremendously excited. Our core values from seven-and-a-half years ago when we found The Old Bath Arms in Frome was to serve local people good homemade traditional food, fused with some international flavours like South African, Spanish and American. We took bold flavours and we threw them at the public.

“We have a new terrace and snug lounge which is absolutely beautiful, and it is a heated, all-weather, all-season patio. For the first time ever, we have full table service on the terrace.

“The vision for the bar is to once again lead the way in the area with fantastic craft food and bar snacks, new and dynamic cocktails, good quality wines at reasonable prices, a really good selection of beers and, most importantly, creating the quality that this town deserves.

“For the readers of the Frome Times, once again it’s a journey. You walk through the front door and every single room is different, there is something for everyone from children, all the way through to granny and grandpa. You need to come and look at the new face of the Bath Arms, it’s fresh, it’s alive.

“We are looking after not just the traditional men that like drinking in pubs, watching the football, but also making a space for families and especially ladies, as they enjoy coming to pubs and having a good time too!

“So, we have created a dynamic wine list in the new craft bar and we have also been foraging around Frome for interesting ingredients to fuse with cocktails and food made from local food we have foraged – I don’t think anyone’s done this before in a food pub and restaurant in Frome!

“We still show sports upstairs, and have our restaurant and B&B, but the craft bar is going to lead us into the next 7-10 years and set the bar for us to perform consistently well and we look forward to giving Frome this bold, beautiful and well-presented space.

“Two years ago, we ventured a little bit out of our comfort zone and went into the late night trade up until 2am, and for two years we experienced something that wasn’t part of our business. We’ve now had to look deep to find our core values again and part of those core values are to get back to taking The Old Bath Arms into the future.

“We are celebrating that the late night activity is gone, we now shut at 12.30am each night and it is a completely new experience.”
