Story posted on

A YOUNG Frome acoustic band are preparing to take to the stage at the Cheese and Grain.

Year 10 Frome College students, Beth Freestone, Aimee Woodward, Lucy Sheppard, and Ellie Weeks, have been playing together as a band for just under a year. Calling themselves ELBA, they have been taking part in the Rural Music Network programme since October, performing in venues across Somerset and Bristol with other young musicians. The finale of the tour will take place at the Cheese and Grain on Sunday 15th December.

The Rural Music Network project is run by Young Somerset in partnership with the Cheese and Grain and funded by Youth Music.  The aim is to bridge the gap between young people and the music industry, increasing the promotion of up and coming young people’s music across Somerset.

As well as performing at eight different venues, each music act is also given two days worth of free studio time, allowing them to record their own songs which they can then release to the public and send to promoters, venues and labels.

The show at the Cheese & Grain on Sunday 15th December starts at 7.30pm and tickets on the door are £3 for under 18s & £5 for over 18s.
