Compassionate activism – how can we take care of both ourselves and others?

Story posted on

Frome will be hosting a rare visit from much-loved Buddhist teacher, Ven Robina Courtin, who will give an evening talk on ‘Compassionate Activism’, on Wednesday 4th March.

Ven Robina is an Australian student of the Dalai Lama who has been a nun for over 40 years and is renowned for her stimulating insights and no-nonsense approach. Her style is warm and challenging, funny and wise, contemporary and timeless. She will address questions such as: what can we do to strengthen our capacity to help others, how do we take care of ourselves when we’re feeling overwhelmed, and why do we need both compassion and wisdom to achieve our goals?

This is an evening for anyone who wants to develop their capacity to bring about a better world.

She says, “The more we work on ourselves internally, the more we get to go beyond our narrow sense of self and realize we’re all in the same boat. This brings the confidence that every small action counts and the courage to never give up,”

The talk and Q&A will take place from 7.30pm to 9.00pm at the Rye Bakery and is free of charge, although donations will be requested on the night to help cover costs. Booking is now open on WeGotTickets.

The event is being organised by The Good Heart as part of their programme for exploring kindness, and is suitable for people of any faith tradition or none. For more information contact hello@thegoodheart.uk.
