More famous faces perform in Frome

A HUGE variety of famous faces are to perform at Frome’s venues across the year, bringing you live music, Q&A evenings and comedy. 

Coming up are top comedians Ed Byrne, Andy Parsons, Joel Dommett, Russell Kane and Rich Hall as well as live music performances from The Feeling, S Club, East 17, The Wurzels, Elkie Brooks, Marty Wilde and Martin Kemp and also intimate evenings with the likes of ‘Mr Gardening’ himself, Alan Titchmarsh; SAS soldier Mark Billingham; boxing legend Frank Bruno, footballers Paul Merson and Matt Le Tissier , and John Challis (Boycie from Only Fools and Horses) amongst others. 

Frome has a growing reputation in attracting top names and this year in no exception with the Cheese & Grain, Memorial Theatre and the Merlin Theatre playing host to a number of big names during the year.

Kicking things off will be three big names at the Memorial Theatre this month. Singer Elkie Brooks is live in concert on 14th February (see our interview with her on page 20!). She will be performing her biggest hits including Pearl’s A Singer, Lilac Wine, and Fool (If You think It’s Over), and more.

She is followed by Alan Titchmarsh who will be sharing stories about his varied life on the evening of 20th February as he brings his ‘Trowel and Error’ show to Frome. 

Then British Rock ‘n’ Roll pioneer Marty Wilde and his wildcats presents an evening of ‘50s classics on 28th February (see our interview on page 5!) 

Other shows at the Memorial include comedian Joel Dommett who returns to the town on 7th March; Rich Hall on the 3rd April and Russell Kane on 15th May. 

Coming up at the Cheese & Grain on Friday 10th April, local favourites The Wurzels will return and promise to get you all dancing and singing along to ‘Combine Harvester’ and ‘I am a Cider Drinker’.

On Thursday 30th April comedian Ed Byrne, known for Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Top Gear and QI, will bring his show to town; while other shows include: an evening with SAS: Who dares wins’ most decorated soldier Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham on 12th May; Rock band Airbourne will headline their own show this summer on 3rd June; Martin Kemp returns for another night of 80s music on 6th June; football pundits Paul Merson and Matt Le Tissier with a Q&A evening on 18th June; pop band The Feeling will be playing all the hits and more on 11th September; boxing legend Frank Bruno invites you to spend the evening with him on 5th November and S Club and East 17 round off the year with a Christmas pop party on the 5th December. 

At the Merlin Theatre comedian Andy Parsons will be putting Britain to rights with his ‘Healing the Nation’ show on 14th March, while on 24th May John Challis ( Boycie in BBC’s Only Fools and Horses, will be hosting an intimate evening revealing secrets from his career on 24th May.
