Away win for Frome RFC 1st XV

Sat. 14th March. Southern Counties South Walcot RFC 5 Frome RFC 35

FROME RFC won an away victory over Walcot RFC recently. Head coach Toby Culff said, “For very obvious reasons, the atmosphere this week was a strange one, and it felt odd preparing for an important league weekend in such extraordinary circumstances. “Last week’s postponement and an extended period away from our usual training facilities also added, I think, to a slightly out-of-sorts mindset. “Having recorded storming wins in our last four fixtures, there was plenty of confidence, but our usual edge and appetite were lacking. We played the 80 minutes with the handbrake on, really, and the stop-start nature of our performance, especially in the 2nd half, left us all feeling a bit dissatisfied at full time. “I think, though, that it was just what we needed and that we’ll be much better prepared for the weeks ahead as a consequence. It shows how far this group of players has come that an incredibly competent and comfortable victory can leave them so frustrated. Knowing them as I do, I’m convinced that they’ll attack their preparation this week with renewed determination and focus.” Frome RFC currently sit top of Southern Counties South but Grove RFC and Swindon RFC still have games in hand.
