Christ Church support for foodbank

Children and families at Christ Church C of E First School and Nursery in Frome responded to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic “with joy and kindness” before they had to close the school in line with government guidelines.

Rupert Kaye, headteacher said that as well as rigorous handwashing practices, teachers (as in all Frome schools) were busily preparing online and offline learning resources for children in readiness for closure.

He said, “We really are in uncharted 21st Century waters. These are truly testing times for the whole world. Let us hope and pray that we meet the challenges before us with wisdom, courage, compassion and kindness.”

Christ Church also set up donation boxes in classrooms for dried goods (pasta, rice, biscuits), tins (soup, beans, custard), hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, toilet rolls) and pet food which were passed on to Fair Frome to support people in greatest need.

Rupert Kaye  added,“It is heartening that, at this time of worry and uncertainty, so many staff, parents and children have generously donated to Fair Frome. Our pupil school councillors, in particular, made it clear that they were keen to make sure the most vulnerable and socially isolated people in our community are not forgotten at this time.”
