A virtual tour around Longleat Safari Park has been viewed by more than half-a-million people in just three days.

The 30-minute tour, narrated by Kate Humble, went live online at 10am on Saturday, coinciding with the normal opening time of the famous Wiltshire wildlife attraction.

Featuring a mixture of audio commentary with video footage and photos, the free tour was watched by a staggering 554,000 people over a three-day period; with viewers from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, America, India and the UAE.

“We devised the virtual tour as a way for people to still be able to enjoy the experience of the drive-through safari from their own homes,” said Longleat’s Marketing Director James Bailey.

Viewers enjoy the virtual tour.

“The response has been absolutely phenomenal. We have received literally thousands of positive comments and many people opted to add their own additions to the tour.

“Some decided to watch it in their parked cars while others transformed their living rooms into mini-safari-parks with animal toys.

“In what has been a particularly challenging time for everyone involved with Longleat – visitors, the community and staff, this has been a real morale booster,” he added.

Longleat is hoping to do a second virtual tour covering different areas of the visit over the coming weeks.
