Saving lives with 3D printers – can you help?

Story posted on

HUNDREDS of safety masks and other vital items of protective equipment are being produced for local NHS staff and care workers by a small group of local volunteers using 3D printers.

The self-funded group has produced and delivered enough Personal Protective Equipment to supply an entire NHS facility as well as a number of district nurses in just the last few days – but they urgently need your help.

“We are a self-funded collaboration of makers in the Bath and Bristol areas, working together to produce and distribute NHS approved PPE to NHS staff and other front-line workers,” explained Josh Forwood.

“Using 3D printing, we are producing en mass the PPE which our front line workers desperately need to keep themselves and those around them, safe.

“Our PPE is already being used by front-line workers but we are inundated with requests for more, from everywhere from ICU to care homes, and we need your help to meet these requirements.

“If you have a 3D printer and would like to join us, please let us know by contacting us via our website – http://www.hackthepandemic.co.uk

“If you don’t have a 3D printer but would still like to support us, you can MAKE A DONATION which will be used to purchase materials and equipment to continue and scale our production line.

“We are not charging anything for the PPE we are supplying and are not working for any company or corporation. Our sole goal is to ensure our NHS staff and front-line workers have the tools they need to fight the Covid19 virus.

“The equipment has been approved by the NHS and we’ve had great feedback from doctors and other users who have said how good and valuable the equipment is.
