Exhibition will showcase lockdown creativity

Story posted on

THE Frome Community Exhibition has been set up by a group of four Edventure students who began their start-up course back in March this year, just as the country went into lockdown.

They say they created the exhibition as a chance to encourage creativity and expression during lockdown, as well as being an opportunity to discuss our individual experiences of this collective pandemic as a community.

The organisers report, “How have you felt during the Covid-19 pandemic? Have you been able to discuss your experiences with others? Or channel your feelings into creativity during lockdown?  This is what the Frome Community Exhibition is all about!

“We have all experienced isolation, discomfort and lifestyle changes throughout the course of this year, and the Frome Community Exhibition is a chance to reflect on that through community discussion and the appreciation of local artwork created during this time.”

The team will be busy setting up the exhibition at The Welsh Mill Hub in the centre of Frome; hanging paintings, displaying sculptures and setting up audio/visual equipment to show the impressive videos and recordings created by an incredible range of local residents from all ages and backgrounds.

Each of the exhibits is a personal expression of creativity with a personal story to accompany it.

The socially-distanced, Covid-secure exhibition will run from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th October at The Welsh Mill Hub. Fri 23rd: 6pm – 9pm; Sat 24th: 10am – 5pm; Sun 25th: 10am – 4pm.

The organisers add, “If you haven’t submitted a piece yet, there’s still time! Please bring along your lockdown creations to the Welsh Hill Hub, Park Hill Drive, BA11 2LE, at one of the following times: Sat 17th October: 10am-12pm; Sun 18th October: 10am-12pm; Mon 19th October: 3pm-5pm.”
