Sale of art for Refugees International and Afghanaid

LOCAL artists are selling their work to raise money for refugees.

Local not-for-profit artist and member of RAISE (Refugee Action in Somerset East), Lorna Thomas, says, “The beautiful Town Hall on Christchurch Street West is hosting a cash and carry sale of original paintings for knock down prices between £5 and £50.”

Lorna, who sells her work for humanitarian causes, says that she believes not only in the need to use whatever talent she has to raise money for others, but that everyone deserves to have a unique piece of art in their homes.

She adds, “I still have a watercolour of hollyhocks I bought for £5 over thirty years ago and it continues to delight me every day.”

Lorna is supported by other Frome artists, many of whom have donated cards to be sold for £2 each, with all profits for the charities. Paintings and cards will be for sale throughout October.

Lorna thanks the staff of the Town Hall who are enabling this fundraiser and are making this appeal possible. “They will take cash or give donation forms for Refugee International,” says Lorna. “Bring your own wrapping! But whatever, make the most of this opportunity to enliven your home while helping others whose lives are being traumatised by war.”
