FROME Platoon Army Cadet Force (ACF) has been recognised for their efforts to support last year’s Poppy Appeal.

Frome Platoon ‘The Rifles’ Army Cadet Force.

Frome area Poppy Appeal organiser, Richard Fry, said, “As recently reported, Frome ACF helped the annual Royal British Legion (RBL) Poppy Appeal by collecting at the Westway precinct on the second Saturday of the appeal.

“Their hard work and commitment added a magnificent £848.66 to the town’s total of £32,347.80.

“In recognition if this splendid achievement Col (Rtd) Richard Aspray, the chairman of Frome branch RBL, presented the Platoon with a certificate at a drill parade held on the 14th December.

“Mr Aspray explained to the Platoon how important these funds are and how they will be used to help serving and ex-service personnel and their families. He also promised to return in the spring of 2022 to give a talk about the RBL and how junior membership cost nothing to join and has many positive benefits.

“The cadets and Instructors were also presented with a woven poppy badge to be worn on their uniforms.”
