Locally written lockdown opera debuts  at Festival

MUSICIAN, writer and eco farmer Ed Green’s unique ‘Magic Of The Universe’ space opera was written during lockdown and now debuts at this year’s Frome Festival.

The performance will take place on Monday 4th July at 7.30pm in the Assembly Rooms in Frome.

Organisers say, “This inter galactic opera is unlike anything seen before and will take the audience on a musical journey through the universe far beyond Star Wars, Star Trek or Deep Space Nine and to places only limited by your imagination.

“Ed’s new band, the Pagan Gospel Groove Machine will play alongside a 12-piece choir, a dance troupe and audio visuals with lyrics to sing along to.

“Ed will be known to many as the founding member of popular local band Captain Cactus & The Screaming Harlots, who played many a raucous night around town and the local festival scene.

“His new Pagan Gospel Groove Machine band playing at the festival features Flash Harry sax player, harpist, local writer, and meditation facilitator Vicki Burke, as well as the Hoo Doos and Unit 4 guitarist (and acclaimed photographer) Dave Goodman. Locally based opera singer Annie Bourne also features in the choir…a voice not to be missed!

“Deeply immersive with very active audience participation the production is above all a joyous occasion full of love, hope and above all fun!

“All profits will be going to Fair Frome and tickets are available now from the Frome Festival box office (event 409), and are selling fast. There are only 100 spaces available. You’re going to want to tell your grandchildren you saw it here first.”
