Issue 284 – Radio 2 prize boosts Memorial Theatre draw

The widespread interest and thousands of pounds being offered to Terry Wogan’s Children in Need appeal on Radio 2 show last week, to win a trip to New York to see Barbra Streisand has buoyed up the fundraisers at the Frome Memorial Theatre, who themselves are offering an equally exciting trip for two people to see a show on Broadway.

“The prospect of winning a trip to New York via our own Broadway bonanza draw is creating an equally exciting buzz around the town” says the Memorial Theatre’s fundraising project leader, Derek Trick, “ … and you don’t need to commit to vast amounts of money to get there.
“Our fundraiser, to support the theatre, costs just a pound a ticket with the lucky winner from this area being able to choose the show of their choice on Broadway.
“The public interest, by Radio 2 listeners and the people of Frome, proves New York is the place people want to visit and see top entertainment. We have conducted a number of fundraisers over the years for our own charity status, but the interest in our latest draw is quite astounding. We will be selling our raffle tickets on theatre show nights right through to the last night of the panto season on Jan 2nd, then we will have great pleasure in arranging the trip of a lifetime for the lucky winner”
The Broadway Bonanza Draw is being promoted to raise money to procure equipment specifically for use by community performers who use the theatre.
