Frome Town Council says they are keen to work with the trustees of the Cheese and Grain to ensure the complex remains an important part of the town and has a viable future.
As reported in the last issue of Frome Times, Frome Town Council had been holding discussions about the centre’s future behind closed doors.
The Mayor of Frome, cllr Helen Sprawson-White has since stated, “What I can say is that the town council’s policy and finance committee unanimously agreed to work to ensure the Cheese and Grain remains a viable venture in the town and we look forward in the coming days to constructive discussions with the trustees to find a way to deliver our mutual aspirations.
“The Cheese and Grain trustees have stressed to us how important it was to them to keep our discussions confidential and there remain very good reasons for the discussions to remain confidential at this time, which I am sure they will confirm.”
The charity which currently runs the venue, Frome Cheese and Grain Ltd, is holding its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 7th December at 7.30pm. This year, the meeting at the Cheese and Grain will be open to the public.
