Frome Selwood Rotary Club held their Christmas Dinner on Tuesday 14th December.
The dinner was attended by over 50 people, and the Fox and Hounds, Tytherington provided an excellent Christmas meal. As the president Jenny Bennett was unwell, the meeting was ably chaired by president elect Helen Woodhead.
Highlights of the evening included a performance by the Frome Selwood Occasional Choristers, assisted by Andrew and Karen Curtis who performed a duet.
At the meeting Rotarian David Mack, who is a founder member of the club, received the highest commendation in the Rotary movement – a Paul Harris Award. This was in recognition of David’s tremendous contribution to the Rotary movement both locally and internationally. David is currently international liaison officer for the Rotary Fellowship of Caravanners. The award was presented to David by past district governor Michael Stredwick.
Also at the meeting the Rotary Club presented a cheque for £3,880 to Yvonne Brunton from Dorothy House hospice. This was money raised at various events during the year, including a jazz night at the Frome Show, and a fashion show at Marks and Spencers in Bath.
