The organisers of the Frome Community Lottery have announced a £6,000 plus boost for local good causes. The funds have been raised by the local lottery over the last year.
The Frome Community Lottery was launched in October 2000 to raise money to fund capital projects that involve improving existing or developing new community facilities in the Frome area.
For just £1 the lottery offers 4 chances a week to win a prize of up to £10,000. There have been over 16,500 cash prize winners. Many players have won on a number of different occasions. The total paid out in prizes is over £67,000
This latest round of grants will bring the amount of money distributed to local projects and groups to over £70,000. To date a total of 55 projects and groups have received funding. Individual grants are typically between £100 and £1,500.
Local projects, groups and organisations are once again being invited to apply for grants. The main conditions of funding are that the project is in the Frome area, that it is for a capital item and provides a new or improves an existing community facility. The closing date for completed grant applications is Tuesday 22nd March.
Michael Rhodes, chair of Frome Community Trust said, “During these difficult times for many, the Frome Community Lottery is continuing to raise vital funds to improve community facilities in the Frome area. The lottery players have made a real difference to the town and together have raised over £70,000 for local good causes. We look forward again in 2011 to helping make Frome an even better place.”
