Issue 322 – Friends to ‘pool’ their resources for Harry’s Hydro!

the Friends of Frome Hospital is donating £22,000 worth of equipment to Harry’s Hydro specialist hydrotherapy pool, providing a comprehensive range of medical-related equipment for the project.

This will help Harry’s Hydro pool, which is currently under construction at Critchill School, to being fully operational by the autumn.
In a landmark accord between the two Frome-based trusts, £22,000 worth of equipment will be supplied by the ‘Friends’ opening an important community link between the medical teams at the hospital and the recuperative facility at the Critchill site.
On agreeing the link with Paula Fox of Harry’s Hydro, Peter Smith, chairman of the Friends of Frome Hospital said, “The community has contributed £600,000 towards equipment for the new Frome Community Hospital through our Centenary Fund, which on its successful conclusion was wrapped up last year.
“We have now established a new donated fund which allows us to make a broader approach to support patient care. The ‘Friends’ also have a remit to support the sick and disabled in the community as a whole, with Harry’s Hydro being an excellent example of this.
“Although we would have preferred the hydrotherapy pool to be located at the hospital this was not possible. However the medical links are obvious and we are hoping that the hospital and Frome’s medical practices will be able to refer patients for therapeutic care at Critchill.
“This is a really exciting era for medical services in Frome with a new hospital, a new health centre in the offing and now an almost unique hydrotherapy pool here within our town.”
