LIKE many other charities Positive Action on Cancer has been badly hit by the recession. Now the charity desperately needs to raise the final £50,000 of their Listening Ear Appeal in order to maintain their service and keep funding the play therapy service for young children affected by cancer.
“If we don’t raise this extra money we will have to make cuts. We may have to close the children’s service which provides vital support for children under 11 who are suffering from cancer themselves or having to cope with the illness or death of a parent” says PAC director Mary Taylor.
PAC’s latest fundraising drive will be led by their new fundraiser Kelly Hall. Kelly, who recently joined the charity from Help for Heroes, is undaunted by the challenge ahead. “I’m thrilled to be working for PAC,” she said “The welfare of people affected by cancer is a cause very close to my heart as several members of my own family have been touched by cancer. As a Frome resident I know how much local people appreciate PAC and I’m looking forward to working with them to raise funds to safeguard the future of this valuable service.”
Director Mary Taylor feels confident that Frome will, once again, rally to support PAC. “We are constantly amazed and delighted by the community response to our appeals and we can’t thank people enough for their fundraising efforts over the last 18 months. We hope that we can continue to rely on your support.”
Kelly is keen to hear from anyone who is interested in organising a fundraising event for the charity or would like to become a volunteer. You can contact Kelly on 01373 455255 or by email mailto:fundraising@positiveactiononcancer.co.uk fundraising@positiveactiononcancer.co.uk
