Lions Tree Of Remembrance 2012

THE Lions Club of Frome are again providing a Tree of Remembrance so that the people of Frome and district may have a loved one or cause, remembered.

The lights on the Tree represent all those remembered, and each donor will receive a personal acknowledgement. Funds raised at the same time will then go to Lions Club Charity Trust, for needy causes in the local area.

Last year there were over 200 remembrances and funds raised totalled  £1,400.

The tree will be sited in front of Rook Lane Chapel from late November until early January and the names of the loved ones will also be displayed there.

There will be a service of dedication on Thursday 29th November at 6.15 pm when the lights are switched on and the tree blessed. This will be led by the Reverent Colin Horn. Frome Town Youth Band will be providing the music to sing some well known traditional carols, and afterwards warm mulled wine and mince pies will be served by the Lions.

The Lions are hoping to defray all their costs through business sponsorship and the proceeds will be used by the Lions Club for its local and charitable work.

Longleat Forestry is kindly donating the tree used. Also architects Nugent, Vallis & Brierly (NVB) have kindly offered the use of the site and generously the cost of electricity for the lights.

Those wishing to sponsor one or more lights and for any further details please contact Lion Derek Storer on 01373 452350 or by e-mail A donation form is available by downloading from the club’s website,

The Lions Club of Frome is now a registered charity and incorporates Charity Number 1121012. Tax can now be claimed back on donations made.
