Shop first in Frome this Christmas

WITH the days ticking down to complete your Christmas shopping, traders across the town are encouraging you to shop locally this Christmas.

A wealth of independent shops are available in Frome, with many one-of-a-kind, unique shops and stores.

Mayor of Frome cllr Pippa Goldfinger is encouraging everyone to do their Christmas shopping in Frome first, before travelling further afield. She said, “Frome is a great place to do your Christmas shopping, there’s so much to offer.

“From established shops like Ellenbray and Amica to newer additions on Catherine Hill such as Assembly and Sisters’ Guild, they are all within a walkable distance.

“I’ve found all the gifts I need without spending a whole day travelling elsewhere. At a busy time of year it’s been great to be able to stick to Frome and enjoy the range of shops on offer, fortifying myself with a coffee in one of Frome’s many cafes.

“It would be great if people can support the local economy by doing their Christmas shopping in Frome.”

Tony Gibson, from the Golden Goose on Stony Street said that Christmas is an important economic boom for local traders. He said, “You have to think about the future of market towns and how they can benefit from retail over the Christmas period.

“Frome has a large number of independent shops that are attractive and friendly. By shopping locally you are investing in those businesses and tapping into the Frome spirit. There surely cannot be many towns where you have, for instance, a jewellery shop that designs and makes their own products. There are so many unique shops, it’s simply a fantastic place to do your Christmas shopping.”

The president of Frome’s Chamber of Commerce, Neil Howlett says that there is an abundance of Christmas gift ideas, right on your doorstep. “There’s so much diversity in the town,” he said. “Last Christmas I overheard a happy man in a shop on St Catherine’s saying ‘This is amazing, I’ve done all my Christmas shopping in one day!’ There aren’t many towns that can offer the sheer variety that is available in Frome.”
