ACTIVE and In Touch Frome is an important social action volunteering project that connects members of the community, volunteering to help the isolated, elderly and disadvantaged people in Frome and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Volunteers assist members to help improve their lives, wellbeing and positively engaging them in community life.
On Monday 14th January volunteers and members gathered over lunch at The Works Canteen in Frome to celebrate the initiative, which provided an opportunity to meet the new Active and In Touch Frome Team, along with Pippa Goldfinger, Mayor of Frome, who came to thank all the wonderful volunteers and supporters for their help with the project to date.
Since September 2011 Active and In Touch have trained 30 volunteers who are now actively supporting older and isolated people. The aim is to improve the social health of Frome by building connections, friendships and support between local people.
Active and In Touch is looking to expand the service and is actively looking for new volunteers within the community of Frome. The group will also shortly be commencing a fun community crowd funding campaign with the aim to raise 20K to support the running of the project.
If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer or if you are a member of the community who could benefit from the Active and In Touch service, please contact Lucia Chadwick, community projects coordinator Frome, Active and In Touch, email: activeandin touch@vistaproject.org.uk
