Pre-season looks good for the Robins

FROME Town have signed Giani Kapika to give the side a major boost with just three weeks to go before the season kicks off. The Congo born forward was previously with Bristol City and played for their youth and reserve teams prior to his release in the summer of 2012.

After brief spells with Bath City and Clevedon Town he took a break from the game and after an impressive performance as a second half substitute on Tuesday against Paulton Rovers he was delighted to sign for the club.

Manager Derek Graham was pleased with his new signing; “Giani did really well and showed a great deal of promise just in the short time he was on the pitch, he is enthusiastic, skilful and will give us another different option,” said Derek.

Pre-Season is certainly going well with a really positive vibe around the whole Club, reports club secretary, Ian Pearce.

“The supporters seem to be enjoying the new style of football with the ball firmly on the deck and the players being allowed to express themselves while also getting the results, not that results matter during pre-season, apart from gaining confidence and momentum.

“The players themselves also seem to be responding and have worked really hard both in training and during the games. Derek Graham is in the process of trimming the squad down so over the coming weeks the squads at friendlies will reduce down to those players who will take to the field on August 17th.

“Competition for places is probably the highest it has been for some considerable time so it will be a tough job for the new boss but certainly great for the club as a whole.

“We are continuing to make a few changes off the field and at the Annual General Meeting Jon Curle stepped down from the management committee to concentrate more on the youth teams but he will remain around the first team as well having taken on the official club photographers role. Our thanks go to Jon for all his efforts while with on the committee.

“The website is now being expanded and will be covering all of the ladies’ sections and in time the youth side of things as well – this coming season it is our goal to make it a one club feel – all the individual sections are working really hard and doing a great job but now everything is established it’s time to start working on making sure that everybody feels apart of the club which can only be a positive thing.
