Join Frome’s WOW Support Group

ARE you widowed, feeling isolated or in need of companionship?  

The Frome Widow or Widower’s Support Group (The WOW Support Group) meets every Wednesday at The George Hotel in Frome.

The group would like to invite other widows and widowers and be part of this social, support group.  At present, the WOW group has around 25 members who regularly meet.

Lucia Chadwick, Active and In Touch Frome project coordinator said, “The group is a lovely, friendly mix of people from different age groups and interests.  Each week we try to offer a different speaker who can come in to talk to the group about some of the activities and services that are available locally.

“Recent speakers have included Mendip Community Walks, Mendip Care and Repair, Arleans Coaches, Somerset You Can Do – Active Living, Gerald Franks from the Frome Football Club Lunch Club, Curves, The Fire Service and in October we are hoping that Somerset Lavender Farm will be paying us a visit.

“The idea for the widow and widowers group came from one of our Active and In Touch members, and we are so pleased with how successful this group is proving to be.”

The group meets every Wednesday, alternating between mornings and afternoons. The next three meetings will take place on: 25th Sept. 10.30am – 11.30am; 2nd Oct. 2.30pm – 3.30pm; and 9th Oct. 10.30am – 11.30am.

The George Hotel, situated in the Market Place in Frome has kindly offered the use of their downstairs reception room for all the meetings, for which the group is extremely grateful.
