Frome town crier on a high

The Frome Town Crier, Mike Bishop has now finished his 2013 competition year.

His final competition was on Saturday 9th November at Hatherleigh in mid Devon. Mike had a fantastic day because not only was he celebrating his birthday, but also with a cry all about remembrance, he won his very first competition in the proclamation section.

He has, as we all know, won many a prize with his wife Angie in the costume section, and has been placed in numerous competitions, but this was his first time at actually winning the competition.

This brought about an exciting end to the calendar as he was awarded the Best Dressed Crier at Tiverton in October and Angie won the Best Dressed Escort at Hastings in the National Championships in October, and this has now proved to  be  the icing on the cake for a brilliant end to the season.

Mike and his committee would like to remind all those ‘quizzers’ out there that they will be holding a quiz night on Friday 22nd November at the cricket club, £2.50 per head max six persons per team. Come along and have some fun with the Town Crier Festival Committee, doors open 7.00pm for an 8.00pm start.
