Best ever GCSE results for Frome College

FROME Community College has achieved its best ever GCSE results in the national performance tables.

The Department for Education published the GCSE and A-level performance tables on Thursday 23rd January.

Headteacher Gavin Ball said the school is delighted with the news. “This week’s release of the secondary school exam results tables confirms Frome College’s improvements with our best ever results,” he said.

In the GCSE performance tables, published alongside the A-level tables, 55% of GCSE pupils at Frome Community College achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE, this is up on 2012 and 2011’s figure of 47% and 2010’s figure of 52%

A-level statistics show that 82% of pupils received at least 2 A-levels at A*-E grades, which according to Gavin Ball, “Proves Frome Community College students can outperform those from many other parts of the country and once again we hope many of our students will gain entry into the most prestigious universities including Oxford and Cambridge and a wide range of Russell group universities.

“The post 16s’ move into the new purpose-built Frome Futures building has added extra momentum to our on-going improvement strategy and we look forward to yet again announcing our best ever results in August 2014.”
