PUPILS at Selwood Academy wanted to support those affected by the recent floods in Somerset.
Maureen Bottle, on behalf of the academy explained, “We did this by donating small but thoughtful items such as tins of soup, coffee, tea bags, hot chocolate, packets of biscuits, cereal and other goods, as a token of our prayers, thoughts and best wishes. The generosity of everyone who donated has been overwhelming.
“A group of staff and children from Selwood Academy delivered the goods collected to the village of Muchelney on Friday 14th February. They arrived at Huish Eciscopi Church around midday and then travelled by boat from Bucknells Bridge where they were greeted at Muchelney by Mary and Alistaire Mullineux.
“It is hoped that our small gifts will provide a big comfort to those who are affected and boost morale. The thoughts and well wishes from Selwood Academy, we hope, will encourage individuals who have suffered greatly in a region that needs so much support.
“Our motto is ‘actions speak louder than words’ and this is truly a community in action, pulling together, supporting one another!
“Day by day we saw our goods rise, and it is hoped that day by day the floods will recede.
“Selwood Academy’s pupils, staff and parents offer our best wishes to all those affected.
“Our prayers are with you!”
