A BOOKSHOP in Frome is to stock the books from a West Country publishing co-operative.
Hunting Raven Books in Cheap Street is now stocking all of the books of Vala Publishers, a cooperative of 140 members which was established by former publisher Sarah Bird in 2011 to publish ‘Books from a better world’.
Jean Boulton a member of Vala Publishers said, “Vala publishes books which aim is to help readers discover strength and inspiration from authors’ lived stories of learning and transformation. We hope you will find a book to inspire you.”
The latest book from Vala, Spindrift, will be launched at Hunting Raven on Saturday 26th April at 11.00am and you will be able to meet the author and other members of Vala Publishing.
‘Spindrift’ is Vala’s 8th book and is written by former Bath professor Peter Reason. The book is described as, “A meditation on sailing and living: both a sailing odyssey and an inward journey into deep truths about who we are and how we belong in the universal scheme.”
Another Vala book, Stories of the Great Turning, is a collection of stories of how ordinary people in their everyday lives have responded to the challenges of living more sustainably and have established projects that make a difference. Two of the authors, Helen Moore and Johannes Moeller, live in Frome.
