EASTENDERS star Derek Martin who plays Charlie Slater in the soap was in Frome last week to officially open a new store.

The actor who has also starred in Doctor Who, cut the ribbon on a new Proper Job store at Wessex Fields Retail Park last week.

Proper Job is a family business which specialises in affordable DIY tools, house wares, auto goods, stationery, gardening equipment and more. The new store is part of a chain across the south-west and has grown massively since it launched as Tilley’s Tools in the 1980s.  Proper Job now have stores in Weston-super-Mare, Glastonbury, Street, Clevedon, Burnham-on-Sea, Bridgwater, Bristol  and now Frome.

Mike Daw from Proper Job said, “With this new store, we aim to serve the local community with great quality products at unbeatable value for domestic use and trade, as well as providing employment to residents of Frome and the beautiful surrounding area.

“At the opening, the people of Frome came together to enjoy the event which included a hog roast, free ice cream and candyfloss, jugglers, bouncy castles and refreshments.   Frome’s own Town Crier also provided some good old fashioned shouting and ringing of bells. Open seven days a week with ample parking and easily accessible by all residents of Frome, Proper Job look forward to seeing more and more people come through the doors and walk out with a bargain.”
