Unique market for music lovers comes to Frome

A UNIQUE market is coming to Frome as the Independent Label Market will debut at the Market Place on Sunday 1st June.

The market, organised by Frome Independent will see independent record labels from London and across the region have stalls located in the Market Place where they will promote their music.

The market is described by organisers as being “a unique, not-to-missed event for music lovers.” Faye Penfold from Frome Town Council added, “This is a massive coup for The Frome Independent and goes to show how well respected, and much praised our lovely town has become.”

The Independent Label Market has staged events from L.A. to Berlin, Paris to Toronto, with the coolest UK labels not only selling their music but adding all sorts of quirky extras. Past highlights have included Laura Marling selling ‘Marling’s Macaroons’, Jarvis Cocker DJ’ing the Rough Trade stall and an exclusive limited release from Portishead.

Now in their search for a suitably independent enclave for their first foray beyond city limits, the Independent Label Market chose Frome.

Independent Label Market say, “Frome itself really does epitomise independence; with an independent council and an array of independent businesses, restaurants, bars and shops, including one of the best independent record stores in the South West, ‘Raves From the Grave’.”

The Frome Independent is the largest regular independent market in the South West, boasting 300+ stalls on the first Sunday of every month and has grown to become a much loved regular feature on the Frome events calendar.

The Independent Label Market will see South West labels such as Black Acre, Tectonic and Ramp, pitching up next to London labels such as Ninja Tune, Hyperdub, Lex and Strut.
