Frome’s Team Lightning strike team national finals

Primary school children from all over the country were recently invited to take part in the ‘Jaguar Primary School Challenge’ in which children had to design and build a model Formula 1 car using a computer-controlled cutter.

Vallis First School entered three teams into the regional finals and one of the teams ‘Lightning Strike’ won the regional finals and are now invited to the national finals on 24th June in Coventry.

Project co-ordinator Jo Addison said, “The children worked really hard on this project, producing not only the model but also a portfolio and a presentation about their design.

“We are delighted to have won the regional heats and are really looking forward to the national finals. Local business Keyford Engineering have very kindly agreed to provide us with team T-shirts and make a very generous donation to help towards our travel expenses. If there are any other local companies who feel they could help us in any way please contact the school.”
