Catch the West-End debut of Carey Mulligan at the Merlin

The Merlin Theatre has just announced the latest addition to their National Theatre Live programme.

Following the sell-out success of ‘A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’ the hotly anticipated revival of Oliver Award winning play ‘Skylight’ has now been confirmed for Wednesday 23rd July, with a screening at 7.00pm.

Merlin director, Claudia Pepler commented, “We’re very excited that we’ll be able to watch ‘Skylight’ in the comfort of the Merlin auditorium. We had fantastic feedback from our first screening and can’t wait to welcome more West-End hits to Frome!”

Featuring silver screen stars Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy, this latest version of the multi award-winning play by David Hare opens in the West-End in June, directed by ‘Billy Elliot’ director Stephen Daldry.

On a bitterly cold London evening, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis (Carey Mulligan) receives an unexpected visit from her former lover, Tom Sergeant (Bill Nighy), a successful and charismatic restaurateur whose wife has recently died.

As the evening progresses, the two attempt to rekindle their once passionate relationship only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires.

Talented Carey Mulligan is loved for her starring roles in films such as ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’, ‘The Great Gatsby’, ‘Never Let Me Go’ and ‘An Education’. While she has wowed Broadway audiences with ‘The Seagull’, this will be her greatly anticipated West-End debut.

No stranger to ‘Skylight’, Bill Nighy will be reprising a role he first took on in 1997 when the show transferred to the West End from the National Theatre. His collaborations with David Hare are renowned for their quality and ‘Skylight’ is set to be a memorable show.

‘Skylight’, starring Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan will be screened at 7.00pm on Wednesday 23rd July at the Merlin Theatre, Bath Road, Frome (BA11 2HG). Tickets can be purchased from the Merlin Theatre box office by calling 01373 465 949 or online via www.merlin theatre.co.uk
