Cirencester 4 – 4 Frome Town Ladies FC – Pre-season friendly, Sunday 10th Aug

Frome Town Ladies FC travelled to Cirencester on Sunday 10th August to play their latest pre season friendly without a whole host of players who were either unavailable or sadly on the lengthy injury list that the club has already accumulated.

Into the squad for their seasonal debuts came Molly Hyde and Becky Yeo along with two of the club’s promising youngsters Charley Ratcliffe and Mae Bristow.

Cirencester had a gale force wind at their backs in the first half and it was always going to be a tough ask for the inexperienced visitors. Indeed the home side got off to the perfect start when they scored after just five minutes when a curling shot left Frome keeper Beth Smith with no chance.

Frome came back well and got an equaliser after 20 minutes when the impressive Yeo sped away down the right and her inch perfect cross was met first time by Lucy Dinham who made no mistake.

Back came Cirencester, and they took the lead again, courtesy of a 30 yard screamer from top scorer Fisher.

Disaster struck Frome a few minutes later when Yeo’s day was over courtesy of a nasty ankle injury. On came the young Bristow and it was her pressure that led to the second Frome equaliser which came courtesy of an own goal.

The home side pressed forward at every opportunity and with the wind a major factor scored two more before the half time whistle to go into the break 4-2 in front.

The second half was the complete opposite of the first period with Frome on top for long periods and they pulled one back with 20 minutes to go thanks to a long range Dinham strike into the top corner.

The visitors piled players forward and made it 4-4 with just five minutes left on the clock when Bristow scored with a lovely left foot shot.

All in all another good workout and a draw was the correct result.
