Frome musician in Mali comes out on top

aka Invisible System in Mali.

AFTER a bumpy start to his expedition, Frome musician Invisible System has begun work on his new album and raised more than six times his fundraising target.

Dan Harper, aka Invisible System, has travelled to Mali in West Africa to record a new album with local musicians.

However, his journey started with a panic when he got off the plane to find his luggage, guitars, and recording equipment were nowhere to be seen.

Dan said, “The thought of having no luggage arrive was so bad I had to block it out.

“On the other hand being back in Mali is awesome.  I had forgotten how much of a different world it is; the pace of life, and seeing people making lives for themselves with what we would perceive as scrap in the West.”

After a few sleepless nights, his luggage finally arrived safe and sound and the recording process has begun.

His Kickstarter fundraising page, which he opened for donations to the local musicians, has been thriving and has reached over £320 from an original £50 target.

Dan has also introduced a smaller pledge so he can donate to the most needy, such as the homeless and handicapped, and a larger one to help African musicians pay for instruments.

He said, “After plugging the project to my friends and those who know my music on Facebook, people have been so generous. We just need to keep going!”
