Frome teenager follows royal family tradition

A FROME teenager has followed in her sister’s footsteps by becoming Midsomer Norton Carnival Queen.

Kayley Evans, 15, who attends Frome Community College was crowned Carnival Queen last week and follows on from her sister Laura who also has a royal past having been Midsomer Norton Carnival Queen in 2010, then went on to be Frome Carnival Queen in 2012, before being crowned Wessex Carnival Queen in  2013.

Speaking after her crowning moment Kayley said, “I am over the moon as it’s the first time I have won anything like this. I am so looking forward to my year as Carnival Queen.  It will be a lovely experience to take part in the carnival and other local events.

“I didn’t think I had any chance at the start of the competition because there was other lovely and pretty contestants but I am really happy and I am looking forward to enjoying my role.

“My sister inspired me as I’ve looked up to her and always wanted to follow in her footsteps and carry on the family tradition.”
