The Woodlanders are in the final stages of their rehearsals before their 37th Wondrous Music Hall begins, at ‘The Woodlands Hippodrome’ – known locally as East Woodlands Village Hall – Nr Frome.
Trudi Whittock, on behalf of Woodlanders said, “Already I hear you cry. Yes – it really is that time of year again. No – it can’t be you say – and the tradition goes on.
“Tickets are now on sale for the popular Woodlanders Music Hall – a wondrous two hour variety show. As ever the show is expected to sell out and so those wishing to see the show this year are encouraged to book now by calling Joy at the ticket office on 01373 463643.
“This year’s acts may include (but as always in the Woodlanders tradition – are subject to change, alteration, amendment or cancellation) the following:- Rousing singing and dancing to start the show to ensure that you are paying attention, then onto a tale or two, then some dreamy songs and a whole host of acts that have to be seen to be believed.
“The cash bar will remain open throughout the show so that you can enjoy our comedy songs and sketches all the more.
“You’d be mad to miss it!
“All the usual suspects will be appearing on stage – come and find out how a cast of 16 people can entertain you for two hours. Once seen it is never forgotten.
“Peter Barnes will conduct the orchestra with his usual flair. He has had to take time out of his promotion of shearwater sailing club and fundraising for the Tall Ships Youth Sailing Trust. More details can be found on www.sailbp.com
“The Music Hall is in it’s 37th year and has raised many thousands of pounds over that time. Last year it raised £4000 alone and the lucky recipients are as follows:
Kids Out • Life Education – Wessex • FAST (Frome Autistic Support Team) • Active and in Touch – Frome • Mothers Union • Frome & District Day Centre • Frome & District Carers Group • Mendip Community Transport • Mells Nursery • CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) • Buy A Brick – RUH Cancer Care • East Woodlands Village Hall • Frome Memorial Theatre Trust • Bennett Centre • 1st Rode Major Scout Group • Frome Symphony.
“This year we hope to raise even more money for deserving causes – if your group needs a helping hand please contact us, all requests are reviewed at our AGM in April. We’d love to see you between 13th October and 18th October, come along and enjoy our two hour variety show – fun family entertainment as it used to be.”
