FOLLOWING a successful premiere concert on 26th September with the launch of Domenic DeCicco’s new album, ‘Seeds of Evergreen’, The Green Room, a new monthly concert series presented at the Cheese and Grain, returns for its October event on Friday 24th.
With a line up of some of the best contemporary acoustic and roots performers on the scene today, the live music event will be featuring; The Black Feathers, Wildwood Kin, Griff Daniels & friends and Lauren Castle.
The organisers will also be raising money for local charity, PAC (Positive Action on Cancer) at the event on Friday 24th October at the Cheese & Grain Grain. Some background information about the musicians, provided by the organisers of The Green Room: The Black Feathers are an award winning duo from Gloucestershire. The perfectly paired voices of Sian Chandler and Ray Hughes intertwine effortlessly to create a genre defying sound, combining elements of folk, roots, americana, and southern rock.
The duo have been touring all over the UK for the past two years, winning over new fans of all ages everywhere they go. They have performed at festivals all over the country, including the prestigious Cambridge Folk Festival, Stroud Folk Festival, and Maverick. They were awarded the 5 Valleys Folk Award in September of 2013, and the Folkstock Arts Foundation award for Best Live Performance in February the following year.
Wildwood Kin are a three piece folk/indie band on the rise, from Devon. Their music comprises of blended vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars and unique songwriting. They have been named as the winner of the national Open Mic UK competition 2014 at The NEC in Birmingham, joining a long line of prestigious Future Music winners.
Griff Daniels and friends. Griff is a wonderful singer and guitarist, with a well known silky smooth voice, who can be seen around Frome performing with many of the town’s top musicians. He will be joined by special guests on the night and is the spear head for the evening’s PAC charity fund raising event.
Lauren Castle is one of the new breed of young up and coming artists, who writes and performs her own music. She has a beautiful voice, with songs to match , with piano and guitar accompaniment.
