Doing it for the dogs – Frome runner set for Bath Half Marathon

GREYHOUND Rescue West of England (GRWE) volunteer Jan Lake says she is delighted to be running in this year’s Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 1st March.

Jan, a keen member of Frome Running Club dedicates many hours to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming greyhounds and lurchers in Somerset as regional homing officer with the charity.

Jan explained, “Last year GRWE saved over 500 dogs who had been basically discarded and had nowhere to go.”

“Those dogs are now happy family members in loving homes and I am running this race not only to raise funds, but also awareness of what fabulous pets GRWE dogs become.”

Jan’s claims are backed up by data which shows that very few dogs are returned to the charity after being homed.

Jan added, “Our return rate is absolutely tiny. We have bespoke match-making methods, and an excellent behaviour support team who are proactive in working with families wanting to maximise the quality of life with their new pet.”

If you would like to show your support, Jan has set up a fundraising page or go to to find out more about the charity.
