Hosts needed for French families

Frome is preparing to host 1,000 French schoolchildren during the months of March, April, May and June.

Each week coaches will arrive with 100 children aged between 12-16 looking forward to their 3 or 4 day trips. Leaving at 8am and returning at 7pm they visit places of interest including Bath, Stonehenge, Cheddar, Weston-Super-Mare, Cardiff and Bristol.

This is not an exchange trip as an attractive accommodation allowance is paid to host families who provide B&B, packed lunch and evening meals.

The hosts’ own children enjoy the opportunity to practise their language skills and sometimes make lifelong friends.

The children often bring little keepsakes from France for their hosts and despite the shortness of the visit, many a tear is shed on leaving. Anyone interested in becoming a host or would like to make use of a spare bedroom should phone Mrs Eunice Clapp on 01373 466826.
