Stonebridge Spring Clean Up community calling for volunteers

A community litter pick is being organised to mark national Big Tidy Up and Community Clear Up Day by local residents in the Stonebridge area of Frome on Saturday 21st March.

As many volunteers as possible are needed. The more people that come along the cleaner the neighbourhood will become.

To get involved, just come along on Saturday 21st March at 10.30am outside Tesco Express on Forest Road, until 12 noon. People just need to wear suitable outdoor clothing, footwear and gloves. All other equipment will be provided. The event is open to everyone, and children are welcome.

The litter pick is being organised by Phil and Annabel Macey of HopeFrome and local councillor Adam Boyden.

Annabel said, “This will be a fun and satisfying way of making a difference to our local community. HopeFrome and the Friends of the River Frome have organised litter picks for many years and have seen what a difference it makes.”

Adam said, “It will be great to see the local community come together once again to improve our local environment for everyone. I’d also like to thank the many residents who also do their own litter picking.

“I recently took a Mendip District Council officer and their street cleansing contractors on a tour of the area to point out where extra efforts are needed on their regular rounds. I hope that this, and community actions like this event, will keep our  area of Frome litter free all year round.”
