Frome Air Cadets at VC Commemoration Service

Frome Air Training Corps 1031 Squadron spent Saturday 14th March clearing graves at Christchurch in readiness for the commemoration service for Lance Corporal Wilfred Fuller VC on Sunday 15th March.

The service marked 100 years since the VC was awarded to Lance Corporal Fuller for his actions at Neuve Chappell.

The squadron spent the day clearing the area around Lance Corporal Fuller’s grave.  The Cadets cleared the graves of weeds and shrubs.  In total, around a dozen graves were cleared and cleaned ready for the service the following day. The Squadron were invited to play a prominent role in the Commemoration Service.  They provided part of the guard of honour in the church and had their standard presented alongside those of the Police and Service organisations represented at the service.

After the service the congregation gathered at the graveside of Wilfred Fuller where the cadets were wreath bearers for the family wreath and those of the Grenadier Guards Association, Avon and Somerset Police, the National Association of Retired Police Officers and the Royal British Legion.
