Frome is a ‘fashionable’ place to live

FROMEmade another of The Times’s best towns lists this month when it was named one of the UK’s most fashionable places to live.

The market town was ranked 26th out of 30 in the UK, one place above Sandbanks in Poole.

The Times article, written by property expert Laura Whateley said, “Babington House, which arrived in the late Nineties, still brings celebrities to this part of the world; Eddie Redmayne got married there just before Christmas. The Cheese & Grain holds farmers markets, vintage bazaars and an annual tattoo convention. Lots of the fashion set live in villages such as Bruton near by, including Alice Temperley, Anna Friel and Pearl Lowe. House prices are about £400,000 to £600,000 for a four-bedroom terrace, but ‘don’t get lulled into a false sense of security’, says Amanda Ake of Stacks property search. ‘Properties in select villages and certain town houses around Frome can be £1.5 million-plus.’”

This most recent addition will sit alongside a list of accolades given by The Times, after Frome was named the 26th best place to live in Britain in 2014, the 6th coolest place to live in 2013, and was praised in a travel feature in the New York Times last October.

Frome is renowned for its independent shops, markets, picturesque buildings, green ethos, and artistic subculture.
