Frukes fundraiser a huge success

Frome Ukulele Club (The Frukes) had to put the ‘House Full’ signs up at their recent gig at The Silk Mill in aid of Frome Gateway Club.

With 25 players on stage, friends and relations made up a good proportion of the audience, but those who hadn’t purchased tickets in advance found the doors firmly closed.

For those lucky enough to attend, the atmosphere inside was loud and friendly as the crowd joined in with some firm favourites and new songs alike.   Members of Frome Gateway Club were guests of honour, and with ticket sales and a lively raffle combined, a cheque for £1,000 is on it’s way to the club, which supports adults with additional needs in Frome.

Bridget Cox, the Frukes musical director said, “The Frukes play at the Gateway Club Christmas Party each year, so it was a natural choice for us to support them.

“It was great to see the Silk Mill full, and certainly the Gateway Club members joined in enthusiastically.   It was a wonderful night and we are very grateful to everyone who donated prizes and to those who paid to come along and support us.”

The next Frukes gig in Frome will be at The Granary on Saturday 11th July as part of Frome Festival.   It could be one of the hot tickets of the week!
