FROME Youth Choir is holding a free workshop on Saturday the 9th of May at Wesley church and all young people are welcome.
The choir has been running for 30 years and is always looking to recruit new members.
Brigitte Wye, a member of the volunteer committee is proud of what the choir has achieved in its long standing history, “The choir continues to do amazing work by teaching children to sing, whilst having lots of fun,” she said.
“The choir is staffed in the majority by parents and volunteers. It is so important that the local community support something that has been going for so long and brought so much enjoyment to many hundreds of children.
“Young people who have joined the choir have been amazed at discovering the singing potential they did not think they had.”
As a result of weekly rehearsals, the choir is of a very good standard. They have performed at the Stourhead Festival of the Voice, the Mid Somerset Choir competition and have an annual Christmas Concert at a local church.
“We have an up-coming concert planned for the 5th of July at Rook Lane Chapel; this is during the Frome Festival so we are really looking forward to being a part of the local festivities.”
They rehearse each Thursday (term time only) 6pm-7.45pm. There is no audition to join the choir, anyone is welcome – the first session is free.
