PROFESSIONAL boxer, Ryan Wheeler from Frome won his second professional fight last month in Whitchurch, winning on points 40-35.
After drawing in his professional fight debut and having a number of fights cancelled, he was itching to get back in the ring and put on his best performance.
“I boxed a lad called Joe Beedon from Swindon who has had over 20 professional fights,” said Ryan. “Joe was a tough and skilful boxer but after knocking him down in the first round, I grew more confident.
“I am very happy with my performance after training super hard twice a day, every day. I am overwhelmed with the support I receive from friends, family and the local community. It makes all the hard work and sacrifices worth while.”
Ryan added that The Royal Oak in Frome have been very supportive of his boxing career.
“They have really got behind me by helping me raise sponsorship money so I can renew my boxing licence and boxing medical at the end of August.
“They are kindly organising a Race Night on the 26th June. You can book a table for £30 which is for 4-6 people. But if you don’t want a table, you can still join in the fun as small stake bets will be available.
“Thanks to my sponsors Metro Rod and Red Falcon Project for their continued support. However, I am always looking for extra sponsorship to help support my professional career.”
