Frome to celebrate Volunteers’ Week

Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which takes place from 1st-7th June, and celebrates the contribution made by the millions of volunteers across the UK.

Frome is set to have its own week of celebrations with a diverse range of activities and workshops for local volunteers, community groups and organisations throughout the week.

The week’s programme includes: First Aid Training (an accredited one day course for volunteers), how to recruit volunteers for local groups and organisations, basic IT Training and Excel spreadsheet workshops for volunteers, as well as VOLUNTEA in the park on Sunday 7th June.

This will be a chance for the town’s volunteers to meet others, whilst enjoying a chat over afternoon tea and cake.

Spaces for the workshops and events are limited so booking is essential, to book your place please contact Frome Town Council using the details below.

The events are being co-ordinated by Kate Hellard, community projects officer at Frome Town Council. She explained, “Frome has a vibrant and strong community, supported by a large number of people who share a common goal of, improving the lives of the people around them and making Frome a better place to live.

“We would like to recognise and celebrate the vital role of the many Frome Volunteers, who give their time for free, in a wide range of different ways; as carers, school parents associations, sports and club leaders, theatre, dance and arts providers, local councillors, looking after open spaces, fundraising and support of local charities and organisations and more.

“Frome volunteers have pioneered and driven forward much of the innovative work in the town.   They have been proactive and inspiring and we would like to say THANK YOU. Without these our town would be a very different place to live.”
