Next Stop…Neverland!

Following the success of ‘Hairspray’, Frome Musical Theatre Company are preparing to present their next production. The Youth Section, ‘Spellbound’ will perform the Broadway Musical version of ‘Peter Pan’ from 6th-8th August at the Memorial Theatre.

After an audition workshop during the Easter holidays, approximately 50 children between ages eight-16 were cast and took their first steps on the journey to ‘Neverland’…where this great fairy-tale unfolds.

The principle line up is as follows: Finlay Collinson (Peter Pan), Michael Hill (Mr Darling/Captain Hook), Kathryn Wright (Mrs Darling), Chloe Tawse ( Wendy Darling), Tom MacCallum (John Darling), Elliot Wood (Michael Darling), Josie Lee (Nana), Georgie Rose (Liza), Elizabeth Smith (Jane Darling), Hannah Stamp (Shadow), Astrid Bishop (Tinkerbell), Anna Lee (Tiger Lily), Oli Wareham (Chief Sitting Bull) and Alicia Smith (Sparrow Hawk).

Lost Boys: Lochlan Apps (Slightly), Harvey Joseph (Tootles), George Langley (Curly), Nick Rose (Nibs), Lottie Packer (1st Twin) and Lucy Cooke (2nd Twin). Pirates: Tom Hill (Smee), Oli Wareham (Ceccio), Lauren Nolan (Starkey) and Emma Aspray (Noodles).

The character Peter Pan, created by J M Barrie is the boastful, care free boy who never wanted to grow up. Despite spending his days freely on the magical island of Neverland, Peter would often fly to the home of the Darling family to listen to the children’s bed time stories which were read by their Mother.  When the children meet Peter Pan and Tinkerbell they are excited and want to learn to fly like he can, they soar through the skies to Neverland.

The show promises to take the audience on an adventure of magical lands, Pirates and Indians, a cheeky croc, mischievous Lost Boys and a sprinkling of fairy dust!

Spellbound celebrated its 25th Anniversary last year with a wonderful production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’, it went on to win a number of awards at the David Beach presentation this spring.
