Staff at Frome Veterinary Centre are inviting the local community to a special Open Day on Saturday 8th August, 12.00-4.00pm.
The event is being held to introduce new owners, Highcroft Veterinary Group, and to celebrate the completion of refurbishments and brand new facilities.
Previously known as Silva House Veterinary Group, the practice became part of Highcroft last October following the retirement of its previous owner, Chris Cawood, who was with Silva House for 43 years and is much loved and respected by the local farming and pet-owning community.
Highcroft is an independent practice owned by local veterinary surgeons, Richard Killen and Robert Dawson. Richard explains, “Silva House has been my family’s vet from when I was a little boy. I grew up on a farm in Ston Easton and I even came to Silva House as a student vet on work experience before I qualified in 1982.
Chris Cawood was my mentor during that time and we’ve stayed in touch ever since, so I’m absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity to take on the Silva House Group as he retires. Holding an open day is a lovely way for us to meet the local community and have some fun as well!”
The Open Day will take place on Saturday 8th August between 12.00pm and 4.00pm at Frome Veterinary Centre on Berkley Road. Visitors will be able to see behind the scenes, and even have a go at being a vet, with special activities set up for adults and children.
There will also be face painting, competitions, and a charity raffle in aid of Dillon Chapman, an incredible 13 year old boy from Frome who suffers from neurofibromatosis.
Fabulous prizes have been donated for Dillon’s raffle by local businesses, including an iPad Mini. For more information about the Open Day, contact Frome Veterinary Centre on 01373 466100.
